Over the last 2-3 years as a newborn photographer, I’ve picked up many tips and tricks so ensure a sleepy baby for pictures. Heat. Full belly. White noise. A bit of awake time before the session so baby is ready for a nap. This is all part of the recipe for “Newborn Photography Success.”
For the last two years, that recipe has worked for every single session. Even with 4.5 month old twins! I have had so much confidence in this recipe that it’s been quite some time since I’ve even worried about having a baby NOT fall asleep at a session. They may fight it for a little bit, but I always tell parents to not worry – baby will fall asleep sooner or later and I’m not stressed one little bit.

Mom and Dad and even Grandma worked hard with me to get him to sleep for some of the peaceful, sweet sleepy shots. But he simply was not having it. I’m so thankful that Mom and Dad were so understanding and go-with-the-flow, and had requested more shots of the whole family together to begin with. Their home was GORGEOUS, and big brother brought his A-game and did SUCH an amazing job! I love the shots we were able to capture of this sweet new family of four. Below are just a few of my favorites:
