Our sweet Josie was born on April 13th and is perfect in just about every way.  In short: We. are. absolutely. smitten.

Somehow she’s already THREE months old, and I still can’t get enough of her.  I’ve been soaking in every moment of the newborn stage – the sweetest parts and the biggest challenges – knowing full well with my oldest starting Kindergarten next month that THIS STAGE IS FLEETING.

So thank you for your patience and support while I’ve been off the grid.  I’ve been completely immersed in baby cuddles and nursing sessions and diaper changes and everything that comes with being a mom to my awesome little 3 and 5 year old boys as well.  And I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Oh how thankful I am to be the mama of my three little loves.

As you can imagine, I loved getting to take newborn pictures of my own baby girl.  Fun backstory: I actually received my first DSLR camera as a push present from my husband when our first son was born almost six years ago.  His newborn pictures were the first pictures I took with it!  Let’s just say my photography has improved a little since 2011.

Here are a few of my favorites of Jo’s newborn pictures:

My three little loves.  She has no clue yet how blessed she is to have them as older brothers.  Oh how they love her already!

The boys have handled the transition like pros.  It has really been so much easier going from 2 to 3 than it was from 1 to 2, and I think so much of that is because West and Sam are the best of buds and play so well together.  I’ve never been more thankful for their friendship than I have been over the past few months!

Josie is really such a sweet, happy, relatively easy baby.  Unfortunately, she has silent reflux just like her brothers did and as such she’s already on Prevacid and prefers small, frequent feedings.  She also refuses to take a bottle, just like her brothers.  So as much as a big part of me is oh so ready to jump back into work, the plan for now is to not take on any additional newborn sessions.  I did have a few booked before Josie arrived that I’m going to go ahead and do, but I’ve decided to not do any other newborn sessions for the rest of 2017, and potentially until April of 2018.  This is not a decision I’ve arrived to lightly or easily, but is ultimately what I feel is best for my family during this fleeting stage.  Before I know it, Josie will be one year old and being away from her for longer periods of time, like newborn sessions, will be more feasible.  When that time comes I will gleefully dive back into newborn photography.  Until then, I will be snuggling my last baby and thanking the Lord for every moment.
